An old fuel tank reports in before it runs dry.

A retrofitted rest sensor, a scheduler and three levels of mail instead of driving out to check your own pump.

Industry: Fuel logistics, company-owned filling station

The problem

The fuel tank feeds the company's own pump and is very old. To know the level, somebody had to drive out and look.

The solution

  1. The tank was retrofitted with a rest sensor. Minimal hardware intervention, nothing more was needed.
  2. A scheduler polls the fill level via REST, the response comes back as JSON.
  3. JS sorts it into three stages: above 50 %, nothing happens. Between 25 and 50 %, an info mail goes out. Below 25 %, a critical alarm.
  4. Sent via MailOut.

What it delivered

Nobody drives out to look at a fill level anymore. The tanker rolls when the tank says so.
