Manuals of 200 to 1000 pages come off the print line overnight, and nobody has to dig through d.3.

One email with a zip full of item numbers is enough. Lasernet pulls the rest from d.3 and sends it off to be printed and bound overnight.

Industry: Producer / manufacturer (technical documentation)

The problem

The manuals run 200 to 1000 pages. The print line prints and binds, but before that someone had to pull the matching PDFs out of d.3 by hand. Not half a day's work, but not his job either.

The solution

  1. An email with a zip attached kicks off the process.
  2. The zip contains the item numbers for the manuals.
  3. A REST Modifier uses them to find the matching PDFs in d.3 and fetches them.
  4. The Overlay Engine builds the EMF from them.
  5. A printer profile tells the line how to print and bind.

What it delivered

The line prints at night. During the day it's free for the rest of the company, and the employee is back doing his actual job.
